Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine (not corn oil)
    2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar (16 oz. pkg.)
    2 c. light cream
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Do not try this recipe when humidity is high.
    Caramels may not get firm.
