Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. soda
    2 bottles red food coloring
Preparation
    Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk; add vanilla and food coloring.
    Mix vinegar and soda; add last.
    Bake in two 9-inch layers at 325\u00b0, which are to be split crosswise with a thread to make 4 layers, or one large sheet which can be cut into 4 parts.
