Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. double acting baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 to 1 c. finely chopped nuts
    3/4 c. grated coconut
    1 egg
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt butter in saucepan.
    Stir in brown sugar until dissolved.
    Cool these ingredients slightly.
    Beat egg and vanilla in well.
    Sift, then measure flour.
    Resift it with baking powder and salt.
    Stir these ingredients into the butter mixture.
    Add chopped nuts or coconut.
    Pour batter into greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Cut into 16 bars.
