Ingredients

1 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. unsalted butter (soft)
3 large egg yolks, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 305\u00b0.
Lightly grease cookie sheet.
Cream sugar and butter until light in color.
Beat in yolks and vanilla. Sift measured, sifted flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Fold into butter-sugar mix.
Form dough into balls, the size of a cherry.
Place 2-inches apart on cookie sheet.
Do not flatten. Bake about 11 minutes until tops are cracked and cookie is just turning color.
Cool on wire rack.
Makes about 5 dozen.
