Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. yellow split peas
    Ham bone
    1 c. celery (1/2 inch pieces)
    1/2 c. chopped onion
Preparation
    In a six-quart kettle boil ham bone that still has some meat left, about 1/2 hour.Take meat from the bone and keep 2 quarts of the water.
    Add 1 lb. yellow split peas (which have been rinsed), celery, onion and ham pieces to water and bring to boil, then simmer about 3 hours.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Serve hot.
