Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/12 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. strawberry flavoring
    1/2 tsp. red food coloring
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    4 Tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 c. water
    1 c. Pastry Cream
    1 prebaked deep 9-inch pie shell
    1 1/2 pt. fresh strawberries, washed, hulled and kept whole if small or cut in half if large
    whipping cream for decorating
    1/4 c. toasted and slivered almonds
Preparation
    Make a glaze by adding sugar, strawberry flavoring and food color to boiling water in a saucepan.
    Add dissolved cornstarch and stir over medium heat until thickened.
    Remove and set aside.
    Add cool prepared Pastry Cream to the bottom of the pie shell.
    Pour in half pint of strawberries.
    Cover with half of the glaze and add remaining strawberries, covering with glaze.
    Decorate the edges with whipped cream.
    Sprinkle with almonds.
    Chill and serve.
