Flaky Pastry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 cups flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 cup shortening
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 egg, well beaten
    7 to 8 Tbsp. ice water
Preparation
    Mix flour and salt.
    Cut in shortening until mixture is coarse and granular.
    Mix vinegar and egg to ice water.
    Add a little at a time, tossing the flour mixture with a fork until all particles are moistened.
    Do not knead, but press into a ball. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.
    Makes 4 pie shells.
