Quick Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. cream or milk
Preparation
    Cook first 4 ingredients, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then cook without stirring until mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Beat until begins to thicken.
    Add vanilla and 1 tablespoon cream or milk.
    Continue to beat until ready to spread.
