Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. boneless chuck steak
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 envelope onion soup mix
    2 medium green peppers
    2 c. water
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 tomatoes
    soy sauce to taste
    white pepper to taste
Preparation
    Cut meat into thin strips.
    In large skillet, heat shortening and brown meat, turning often.
    Stir in onion soup mix and 2 cups water.
    Cover.
    Simmer 30 minutes.
    Add peppers.
    Simmer, covered, 10 minutes or until meat is tender.
    Blend cornstarch with 1/2 cup water.
    Stir into skillet.
    Cook, while stirring, until thickened. Stir in soy sauce and white pepper.
    Serve with rice.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
