Oatmeal Cake And Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. boiling water
    1 c. uncooked oatmeal
    1/2 c. shortening (I use oil)
    1 c. light brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand 5 minutes.
    Mix sugars, oil and eggs and beat well.
    Add dry ingredients and oatmeal.
    Add vanilla and beat well.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 50 to 55 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch oblong pan.
