Cherry Nut Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. Crisco
3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 c. warm water
1 c. chopped dates
1 medium bottle maraschino cherries, chopped
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
grated rind 1 orange
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Save juice from cherries.
Cream Crisco and sugar.
Add eggs, orange rind and vanilla.
Mix dates with soda and water.
Add to mixture.
Then add flour.
Stir in chopped cherries and nuts. Spread on cookie sheet 15 x 10 x 3/4-inch.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Ice while still warm.
