Cabbage Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 c. shredded or grated cabbage (1 large head)
    1 green pepper, chopped
    1 medium onion, chopped
    7/8 c. vinegar
    7/8 c. salad oil
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt or less
Preparation
    Put 1/2 cabbage in large bowl, add a layer of chopped onion and pepper.
    Add rest of cabbage, onion and pepper.
    Bring to boil the vinegar, oil, sugar and salt.
    Pour while hot over cabbage mixture and let stand a couple of days in refrigerator, covered.
    Keeps indefinitely.
