Ingredients

1 c. lard
1 c. Crisco
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. almond flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix the lard, Crisco and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs, almond and vanilla; beat until well blended.
Sift dry ingredients.
Add to first mixture and beat until well mixed.
Dough will be rather dry and crumbly. Roll into 1-inch balls.
Brush top with well beaten egg using pastry brush.
Press blanched almonds into each cookie.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes on greased cookie sheets.
Makes 5 dozen.
