California Walnut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. granulated sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
    1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped English walnuts
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in shortening.
    Stir in 1 1/4 cups walnuts.
    Add egg, milk and vanilla.
    Mix just until ingredients are moistened and blended. Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
    Sprinkle remaining nuts on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes or until loaf tests done.
    Let stand in pan 10 minutes.
