Ingredients

1 c. self-rising flour
1 3/4 c. sugar, divided
4 Tbsp. cocoa, divided
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1 1/2 c. hot water
whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
Preparation

Combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa; stir in milk, butter and vanilla.
Pour batter into a 9-inch square baking pan.
