Bud'S Pear Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pears, cored, peeled and quartered
    1 lb. sugar
    1 lemon, sliced thin (I use more)
    2 c. water
Preparation
    For each pound of fruit, use 3/4 to 1 pound sugar.
    Peel a lemon; leave some white on it.
    Slice thin.
    (Use 2 cups of water.)
    I don't use any, but let sugar stand on fruit overnight, to make it's own juice.
    Put a layer of fruit, then a layer of sugar.
    Do not cover; simmer for 2 hours or until fruit is tender. Put in sterilized jars and seal.
