Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    1 c. water
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine raisins and water in a medium saucepan.
    Bring to a boil and boil 3 minutes.
    Cool (do not drain).
    Gradually add sugar to shortening, beating well.
    Stir in raisins, liquid and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients.
    Gradually add raisin mixture, stirring after each addition.
    Stir in pecans.
    Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto a well-greased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
