Chocolate Caramel Candy(Lucia Pettit) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
    1/3 c. water
    1/2 c. Karo syrup
    butter the size of a walnut
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix the first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Add the syrup and butter.
    Continue to boil and add the vinegar as it starts to thicken.
    While simmering, test for a soft ball in a cup of cold water and continue testing until it forms a thread (or tail).
    When done, add the vanilla and immediately pour out onto a buttered 8-inch pie plate.
