New England Steamed Chocolate Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. milk
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 sq. chocolate
    3/4 c. sifted cake flour
Preparation
    Cream shortening, soda, vanilla and sugar well.
    Add chocolate and blend.
    Add flour alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
    Pour into a 1-quart mold which has been greased.
    Cover with waxed paper and secure with a rubber band.
    Steam for 1 1/2 hours.
    Serve with Sunshine Sauce.
