Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 1/4 c. brown sugar
    dash of salt
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt butter; add brown sugar and salt. Stir in corn syrup. Gradually add milk. Stir constantly. Cook over medium heat until 245\u00b0 (firm ball stage). Remove from heat; add vanilla. Pour into buttered pan. Makes 2 1/2 pounds.
