Company Chicken With Savory Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. fresh chicken pieces
    flour
    salt and pepper
    shortening
    2 cans cream of chicken soup
    1/2 tsp. curry powder (optional)
    1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
Preparation
    Shake thawed chicken parts in flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Allow to stand 10 minutes or so to absorb flour.
    Brown thoroughly on all sides in hot shortening.
    Place browned pieces in a large casserole.
    Stir cream of chicken soup into the pan in which the chicken was browned in order to pick up drippings.
    Use part or all as desired. Add curry and mushrooms.
    Pour mixture over chicken. Cover and bake in a moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Serve chicken with rice steamed in consomme or French onion soup.
    Prepare 1 1/3 cups quick cooking rice as directed on package except substitute canned consomme or onion soup for the water.
    Serves 4 or 5.
