Nanny'S Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. flour
    2/3 c. butter
    12 oz. chocolate chips
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 lb. box brown sugar
    1 c. nuts (optional)
    3 eggs
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
    Melt butter over low heat.
    Stir in brown sugar until mixed, then set aside to cool slightly.
    Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg.
    Add flour mixture; stir well.
    Mix in chocolate chips (and nuts if using them).
    Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Do not overbake!
    Cut into squares when cooled.
