Date Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. dates, pitted and cut into fourths
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. nuts
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
3 beaten eggs
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda

Preparation

Cook first 4 ingredients over medium heat 10 minutes.
Cool slightly and add nuts and set aside.
Mix remaining ingredients. Drop spoonful on pan and make hole in center with thumb.
Put spoonful of date mixture in hole and bring up sides. Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 10 minutes.
