Homestead Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. yellow cornmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
1 egg, unbeaten
1 tsp. melted shortening or oil
Preparation

Preheat oven to 425\u00b0.
Combine dry ingredients.
Add milk, egg, melted shortening or oil and mix well.
Pour immediately into well-greased 6-inch square pan and bake at 425\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
Yields 9 (2-inch) cornbread squares.
