Jack Baird'S Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 1/2 c. lukewarm water
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. bacon drippings
    6 c. unbleached flour
Preparation
    In a large bowl,
    mix
    yeast,
    2
    tablespoons sugar and water. Let proof for 10 minutes.
    Add 1/2 cup sugar, salt and drippings. Stir in enough
    flour
    until mixture forms a ball. Lightly knead in more flour
    if
    needed
    to make a soft dough. Leave in bowl and lightly
    coat top with oil or melted butter. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, 1 to 2 hours. Divide dough in 2 parts (do not knead).
    Shape into loaves and place in 2 greased loaf pans.
    Let rise until nearly doubled. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown.
