Baked Custard - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 eggs or 4 egg yolks
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
nutmeg
Preparation

Beat slightly to mix the eggs, sugar and salt.
Scald milk (heat until a crinkly film forms on top).
Stir in egg mixture. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
Pour into 6 custard cups or a 1 1/2-quart baking dish and set in a pan of hot water 1 inch deep. Sprinkle a little nutmeg over the top of custard.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife blade inserted 1 inch from edge of dish comes out clean.
Remove from heat and allow to cool at room temperature.
Serve warm or chilled.
Refrigerate remainder.
