Ingredients

3/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. maple syrup
1 tsp. maple flavoring
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
walnut halves or pieces
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Cream butter thoroughly.
Add sugar gradually, beat until fluffy.
Add remaining ingredients except nuts; beat well.
Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheets.
Top each cookie with a walnut half.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
