Bourbon Carrots - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. carrots, peeled
    1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    3 1/2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
    1/2 tsp. salt (plus more, if necessary)
    1 1/2 c. water
    freshly ground pepper to taste
    2 Tbsp. dark brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. bourbon
    1 1/2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Preparation
    Cut carrots diagonally into 1/4-inch slices.
    In heavy saucepan, combine carrots, granulated sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
    Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook, until carrots are tender when pierced with a knife, 10 to 15 minutes.
    Drain carrots, taste and add more salt, if needed.
    Add pepper.
