Butter Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. white sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. water
    4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt, syrup and water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
    Boil to 262\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat; pour slowly over egg whites, beating with electric mixer.
    Continue beating for 5 minutes. Mixture will be very stiff.
    Add butter, vanilla and nuts.
    Beat by hand until firm.
    Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper.
    Let stand until firm.
    Store in airtight container.
