Caramel Pie - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, separated
3 Tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 pie shell, baked
Preparation

Brown 1/2 cup sugar in a heavy skillet.
Combine 1 cup sugar, flour, egg yolks, butter, milk and vanilla.
Pour heated mixture gradually into caramelized sugar, stirring until smooth.
Cook until thick.
Pour into baked pastry shell.
Make meringue with 3 egg whites and 3 tablespoons sugar.
Bake in oven until brown.
