Scallops Au Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. scallops
    4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. soft breadcrumbs
    1 small green pepper
    1 medium onion
    2 ribs celery
    1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1 c. light cream
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Butter a 1-quart baking dish.
    In a medium saucepan, cover scallops with cold water; bring to a boil and drain as soon as water boils.
    Do not overcook.
    Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter and mix with the breadcrumbs.
    Set aside.
    Cut green pepper, onion and celery into chunks and saute in the remaining butter about 5 minutes.
    Layer scallops, vegetables and crumbs in the baking dish, making 2 layers of each, ending with crumbs.
    Season each layer with salt and pepper.
    Pour the cream over the top and bake 30 minutes.
    Serves 4.
