Hash Brown Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 lb.) bag hash brown potatoes
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 medium onion, chopped
    1 (8 or 16 oz.) sour cream
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 can cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup
    2 c. cheese, grated
    2 pieces bread, toasted and crumbled
Preparation
    Combine potatoes, 1/4 cup butter, onion, sour cream (reserve 1/4 cup), pepper, salt, soup (reserve 1/4 cup) and 1 cup cheese. Pour in a 2-quart casserole dish.
    Mix together bread, 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup cheese, 1/4 cup soup and 1/4 cup sour cream.
    Pour on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
