Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

2 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. applesauce
2/3 c. margarine
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

In saucepan, warm applesauce.
Add margarine; let melt.
When hot, stir in soda; stir until foamy. Stir well and mix into dry ingredients.
Mix with wooden spoon.
Add nuts or dates, if you like.
Grease tube pan and pour mixture into it.
Bake at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 3/4 to 1 hour.
