Abbey'S Christmas Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. soft shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 eggs
    4 tsp. milk
    4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. double-acting baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Beat eggs and vanilla extract, if desired, into mixture.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; add to sugar mixture alternately with milk.
    Roll dough about 1/4-inch thick on well-floured board.
    (This dough works better if you refrigerate it for 2 to 3 hours.)
    If you want, add food coloring and then cut into Christmas trees, stars, wreaths or fancy shapes using well-floured cutters.
    Place cookies on greased cookie sheets.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
