Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. light Karo syrup
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    In
    a
    2 quart saucepan, combine sugar, Karo syrup, 1/4 teaspoon salt
    and
    1/2
    cup
    water.
    Cook until sugar is dissolved.
    Beat
    egg whites to stiff peaks.
    Pour syrup into egg whites slowly, beating continuously.
    Beat until mixture looks dull and
    holds its shape.
    Add nuts and cherries, if desired. Drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper.
