Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 cup coconut
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cups oatmeal
Preparation

Beat eggs, sugars and shortening.
Add nuts, coconut and vanilla.
Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder in a separate bowl.
Add to creamed mixture a little at a time.
Add oatmeal and mix well.
Shape into walnut size balls, press down on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes.
