Ingredients

1 c. milk
1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

In heavy saucepan, large enough for the amount of pudding you are going to make, heat 3/4 of the milk until bubbles form around the edges.
Add chocolate, stirring until melted.
Add sugar to milk mixture.
Stir cornstarch into reserved 1/4 of the milk. Stir into pudding along with salt.
Cook, stirring, until bubbling and thickened.
Fold in vanilla.
