Orange Date Nut Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. pecans (optional; can use another c. dates)
    2 c. chopped dates
    4 c. plain flour
    1 c. butter or oleo
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/3 c. buttermilk
    2 grated orange rinds
Preparation
    Chop nuts; cut dates into small pieces.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of flour.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
    Sift the rest of flour (3 1/2 cups) with soda. Add flour and buttermilk alternately to butter and egg mixture. Stir in grated orange rind.
    Add dates and nuts.
    Pour into tube cake pan lined with wax paper.
    Bake 1 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
    Remove from pan.
    Remove paper.
    Return cake to pan and drizzle with topping.
