Pistou Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. basil
    4 cloves garlic
    1/4 c. olive oil
    2 large ripe tomatoes, peeled and coarsely chopped
    1 lb. green beans, cut in 1 inch lengths
    3 medium potatoes, cut in 1/2 inch cubes
    2 qt. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 lb. vermicelli, broken
    3/4 c. shredded cheese (Swiss or Cheddar)
Preparation
    In a soup tureen or large deep bowl (at least 3-quart) from which you serve the soup mix the first three ingredients.
    Stir mixture well so oil coats basil.
    Cover and let stand while you prepare the soup.
