Candy Bar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 (2.15 oz.) chocolate-coated (Milky Way), caramel and creamy nougat bars, chopped
    1 c. butter, softened and divided (1/2 c. and 1/2 c.)
    2 c. sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine candy bars and 1/2 cup butter in a heavy saucepan; place over medium heat and stir constantly until candy bars melt.* Set aside.
