Sweet Apple Dumpling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 egg
5 Tbsp. water
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
8 Tbsp. soft butter
8 medium apples
Preparation

For crust, use first 6 ingredients.
Sift flour; cut in shortening, beaten egg and water.
Add vinegar; stir into flour. Mix and chill.
Pare and core apples.
Combine and blend all other ingredients.
Fill the core hollows with fruit mixture and spread remainder over the fruit.
Roll out dough between sheets of floured waxed paper until it is about 1/8-inch thick.
Cut it into 8 squares.
Brush the squares with white of an egg.
Place an apple in each square.
Press edges together using a little water, if necessary to make them stick.
Prick the tops.
