Wedding Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    25 strands vermicelli pasta
    2 c. chicken broth
    1 c. long grain white rice
    1/2 c. slivered and blanched almonds, toasted
    1/2 c. chopped dates
    1/4 c. flaked coconut
Preparation
    Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
    Crunch up vermicelli pasta into approximately 1-inch lengths.
    Saute pasta in butter until golden brown.
    Add chicken broth to butter and vermicelli.
    Bring to a boil.
    Add rice and cover; simmer for 10 minutes.
    Add toasted almonds, chopped dates and coconut to rice.
    Continue to simmer for 10 more minutes.
    Remove rice from stove.
    Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
    Fluff with a fork.
    Serve immediately.
