Chicken And Kraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. chicken fryer, cut up
    2 Tbsp. oil
    16 oz. can (or larger) sauerkraut (undrained)
    16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
    1/4 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 large onion, cut in thin strips
    1 green pepper, cut in thin strips
Preparation
    In a 12-inch skillet in hot oil, brown chicken.
    Remove chicken.
    Add remaining ingredients to the skillet and mix well with the drippings.
    Turn into an ungreased 13 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish and top with chicken, skin side up, in a single layer.
    Bake, uncovered, in preheated oven at 325\u00b0 until the chicken is tender, browned and the skin somewhat crisp, about 1 hour.
    Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    Serve with potatoes or dumplings, because the mixture is juicy.
    Serves 4 to 6.
