German Chocolate Pound Cake - cooking recipe

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. butter flavoring (optional)
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. German's sweet chocolate
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs, flavorings and buttermilk.
Mix together flour, soda and salt and add; mix well. Add German's chocolate that has been softened.
Blend together well.
Cook in 9-inch stem pan that has been well greased and dusted with flour, about 1 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
Test with a toothpick.
If done, toothpick will come out clean when inserted in cake's center.
Place cake under tight fitting cake cover while still hot and leave covered until cold.
