Ingredients

1 c. flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
1/4 c. cocoa
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 3/4 c. hot water
Preparation

Measure flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
Blend in milk and shortening.
Pour into ungreased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Stir together the brown sugar and 1 1/4 cups cocoa; sprinkle over batter.
Pour hot water over batter. Bake for 45 minutes.
While hot, cut into squares. Invert onto plate or bowl and spoon sauce over each serving.
Top with whipped cream.
Makes 9 servings.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven.
