Vegetable Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. onion
    5 c. cabbage
    4 c. green tomatoes
    5 c. green peppers
    1 1/2 c. carrots, shredded
    4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    4 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Combine together sugar, mustard seed, celery seed, turmeric, vinegar and water.
    Wash and chop or grind vegetables coarsely. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup salt.
    Let stand all night.
    Rinse and drain in morning.
