Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 sticks margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. lemon extract or juice
    powdered sugar
    4 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 c. pie cherries or pineapple
Preparation
    Mix sugar and margarine until fluffy.
    Add vanilla and lemon extract or juice.
    Beat in eggs, one at a time.
    Add flour a little at a time.
    Spread out on greased jelly roll pan.
    Mark with back of knife into squares.
    Drop a tablespoon of pie filling into each section.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    While warm, dust with powdered sugar (sift on in strainer).
    Cool in pan.
