Dede'S Caramel Nut Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft shortening (part butter)
    2 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs
    3 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. finely chopped nuts (pecans are good)
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Sift together and stir in flour and soda.
    Blend in nuts.
    Form into two rolls, 2-inches in diameter.
    Wrap in waxed paper.
    Chill overnight. Heat oven to 400\u00b0 (moderately hot).
    Cut in slices about 1/8-inch thick.
    Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
    Makes about 12 dozen cookies.
