D. A.'S Best Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 qt. fresh peeled or canned tomatoes
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
    1 Tbsp. oregano
    1 Tbsp. sweet basil
    1 Tbsp. thyme
    1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
    2 to 3 bay leaves
Preparation
    Brown ground beef and garlic in a large stockpot in a tablespoon of olive oil.
    When meat is almost cooked, add mushrooms and onions; continue browning until vegetables are slightly tender. Drain meat mixture.
    Add oregano, basil, thyme, bay leaves and tomatoes.
    Bring almost to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 2 to 3 hours.
    Add tomato paste, sugar and Parmesan cheese.
    Continue simmering for 1 more hour.
    Serve over your favorite pasta.
    Recipe makes approximately 1 gallon of sauce.
    Freezes in Ziploc bags well for another day.
