Ingredients

4 1/3 c. sifted flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. oleo
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon extract
Preparation

Sift the first 5 ingredients into bowl.
Work in oleo (2 soft sticks) as you do for pie crust.
In small bowl, beat eggs with fork slightly.
Add buttermilk, vanilla and lemon extract to eggs. Add this mixture to flour and oleo mixture.
Blend well.
Dough will be sticky.
Refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight.
Roll out on floured board.
Flour rolling pin.
Cut with floured cutter.
Sprinkle cookies with sugar before baking at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes depending on thickness of cookie.
Use large cookie cutter.
Serve with butter or jam.
